In 2023, The Luna Foundation launched The Joan Wallace Memorial Scholarship. The Foundation has partnered with Rosehill College in Papakura to enable and support a female student to pursue tertiary education. The Scholarship provides $10,000 per annum for three years towards the successful candidate’s chosen field of study.
In awarding the Scholarship, the Foundation considers the candidates:
Financial barriers to entering tertiary education;
Academic merit;
Leadership roles, and participation and engagement in school and community service; and
Demonstration of good character.
The Scholarship is named after Joan Wallace, a beloved mother, educator and feminist, who championed opportunities for young women in New Zealand.
